MotorStorm: Apocalypse revs up on May 3 15 Apr 2011, 7:29 pm
Following a brief delay, the earthquake-themed racer will hit the PlayStation 3 next month.
Following the tragic earthquake and tsunami in Japan, a number of high-profile games were postponed. At the forefront of that list was Motorstorm: Apocalypse, the new PlayStation-exclusive racer from Evolution Studios and Sony Computer Entertainment America. Unfortunately for the game, its setting is an earthquake-struck metropolis, whose shifting landscape is a major factor in gameplay. After being pushed from its April 12 release date, it was unclear when Motorstorm: Apocalypse might see the light of day. Today, though, SCEA announced the game would hit store shelves in North America on May 3, just a few weeks after its originally scheduled launch. Besides the multiplayer racing of previous installments, Motorstorm: Apocalypse includes a single-player story mode that lets gamers experience a plotline unfolding from the eyes of three characters that represent the game's different difficulty levels. The game also sports five new vehicle classes, 40 distinct races, and a four-player split-screen mode that's compatible with online modes for up to 16 players. Finally, Apocalypse will feature customizable vehicles and a game mode creator so players can put their own stamp on the action.
